Captain's foreword
It is a very great privilege and honour to be given the Captaincy of the NRA Team to the Channel Islands. This won’t be my first trip to the Islands, having toured in 2014 under the Captaincy of John Webster. Since then I have travelled with the Old Framlinghamians separately to both Jersey and Guernsey.
These Islands are a delight to visit, with their rich history, lovely climate, picturesque scenery, delicious cuisine, but above all the warm welcome from our fellow riflemen and women. I anticipate stiff competition on the rifle range from Islanders for whom target rifle shooting seems to be a national pastime. It amazes me how these Islands with a small population continue to produce competitors of such a high standard, with a seemingly endless line of youngsters waiting eagerly in the wings.
Tours such as these take a lot of hard work and organisation. My grateful thanks to all our friends in the Channel Islands for help with logistics and firearms security. Also to my senior management team of Ian Ashworth, Kim Pope, and Simon Dickson, who have put up with almost weekly Zoom meetings. My thanks to the team of firers for all their hard work and application. We have a team of mixed ages and experience, and we hope to acquit ourselves well.
Let battle commence, good luck and good shooting to all!
